1-DAY TOUR TO BOLGATANGA

Tour Details

This morning, your driver/guide will pick you up from your location in Tamale and drive 3 hours to Paga in the Upper East of Ghana. In Paga, you will visit the sacred crocodile ponds of Paga, a place where crocodiles are part of the daily lives of the people. It is believed that these crocodiles carry the souls of the people in the community. You will also tour the Paga Pia palace.

Your next visit is the former slave camp at Pikworo, developed as a slave transit center where slaves were auctioned and later resold in the Salaga slave market.

In the afternoon, you will leave Paga to Navrongo and do a tour of the Our Lady of Seven Sorrows mud-brick Cathedral and Grotto built in 1906 and expanded in 1920 by the White Fathers.  You will continue to Sirigu. Sirigu is known throughout Ghanaian history for its pottery, basket weaving and unique symbolic wall decorations. You will get a guided tour of traditional homes belonging to members of Sirigu Women Organisation for Pottery and Art (SWOPA). You will also have the opportunity to meet with (SWOPA) women at the gallery.

This evening, you will drive back to Tamale after an exciting tour of the Upper East Region. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel or where your destination may be.
